What’s in a Name?

A new name. My name.

Classic Life Coaching

As a sole-proprietorship, my company is legally one-and-the-same entity as ME. However, there is a very different perspective when it comes to everyday living. Let me explain.

For nearly a year I operated my company under my personal name – Janet Waldon – and recently I realized I was struggling to hold space for my personal life in the midst of opening my life-work to the world. I tried to shrug it off and told myself it was “OK”, but it wasn’t. My issue with personal identity kept resurfacing; I hesitated putting my business cards out, branding my car and extending my offer on social media and in print. Finally I realized that I didn’t feel safe being that vulnerable and I needed a little privacy between my personal live and my coaching practice.

I create safe spaces for others – why not myself? That question led to many journal entries, long walks and inspired conversations.

As a little back-story, I come from a history of needing to keep confidentiality in my life. For many years I worked in capacities with federal and provincial government departments that required discretion. My husband at the time worked in a similar capacity. As a couple we were taught to keep our personal lives very private. We did not join social media as others did when it first arrived and over the years as circumstances changed and our security needs diminished, my vigilance did not abate.

So, how could I honour my own needs and expand my coaching work into what it is meant to be? With a re-brand! Thus, Classic Life Coaching came into existence. It is still really ME (just me) and now I have the sense of a little space between my work and home-life presence.

Why this name? I chose it because I wanted it to convey the idea that when you work with me you can expect to engage an outstanding experience that will have enduring value and meaning. I am not a flash-in-the-pan kind of coach; working with me is about giving credence to the choices that give you confidence to be your best. For me, re-naming my company gives me that same freedom.

My website is now located at ClassicLifeCoaching.com and my new email contact is: [email protected]

Thank you to all of you (and you know who you are) who encouraged and supported me in this decision and creative endeavor! XO
